Triangle shooters asked for the new CZ striker pistol, so here it is. The DUTY 4.0 is CZ's new-generation 9x19mm, and it swaps a serialized frame for a serialized modular chassis: the numbered part is inside, and the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame is modular. CZ fitted a 4-inch unthreaded barrel, fixed sights, and a slide milled for direct-mount optics; Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots all appear in the factory photos. The refined SFDA trigger pulls 5.6 pounds, plus or minus 0.9, over 9 mm with a 4 mm reset.
In Raleigh, Durham and Greensboro, down I-85 through Concord, Salisbury and Charlotte, and toward Fayetteville and Southern Pines, the DUTY 4.0 C compact (15+1, 5.3 inches tall) is the one most people carry, while the F full-size (17+1, 5.6 inches tall) is the home and range pistol. Both are 7.4 inches long and 1.3 inches wide, and both come as MS models with a manual thumb safety.
The chassis is registered and modular, which is CZ's way of making the frame module swappable. The frame itself is fiberglass-reinforced polymer, 1.3 in (33 mm) wide, on a 102 mm barrel and a 7.4 in (188 mm) overall length. The SFDA trigger breaks at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) and resets in 0.16 in (4 mm). Optics mount directly to the slide; the photos from CZ show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield footprints.
Compact means 15+1 rounds in a frame 5.3 in (135 mm) high. Fit the extended base plate and it holds 17+1. At 27.2 oz (770 g) unloaded it sits between a pocket pistol and a full-frame gun, which is exactly where a carry-and-nightstand 9mm belongs.
This is the version with a manual thumb safety. The three passive safeties (firing pin block, trigger safety, drawbar safety) are the same as on every DUTY; the lever is an extra for people who were trained on one or simply want one.
Who is it for: daily carry, a nightstand gun that also rides along, and new buyers who want one pistol for everything. If you already shoot a P-10, the DUTY is the next step in the same family, with a new chassis and the optics done right.
North Carolina repealed its pistol purchase permit in March 2023 and sets no waiting period. Your dealer runs the background check at pickup. How does the DUTY 4.0 trigger compare to older CZ striker guns? CZ calls it a refined SFDA trigger: 5.6 pounds plus or minus 0.9, 9 mm of travel and a 4 mm reset. Try both the C and F at your dealer if you can. What does MS mean on the CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS? Manual safety. It adds a frame-mounted lever to the firing pin block, trigger safety and drawbar safety that every DUTY has.
