CZ DUTY 4.0 C

Triangle shooters asked for the new CZ striker pistol, so here it is. The DUTY 4.0 is CZ's new-generation 9x19mm, and it swaps a serialized frame for a serialized modular chassis: the numbered part is inside, and the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame is modular. CZ fitted a 4-inch unthreaded barrel, fixed sights, and a slide milled for direct-mount optics; Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots all appear in the factory photos. The refined SFDA trigger pulls 5.6 pounds, plus or minus 0.9, over 9 mm with a 4 mm reset.

In Raleigh, Durham and Greensboro, down I-85 through Concord, Salisbury and Charlotte, and toward Fayetteville and Southern Pines, the DUTY 4.0 C compact (15+1, 5.3 inches tall) is the one most people carry, while the F full-size (17+1, 5.6 inches tall) is the home and range pistol. Both are 7.4 inches long and 1.3 inches wide, and both come as MS models with a manual thumb safety.

Capacity on the carry-size is 15+1, with a 17+1 option through the extended base plate. Height is 5.3 in (135 mm) and the empty weight 27.2 oz (770 g). If you carry, this is the DUTY to look at; if you mostly shoot at the range, see the F.

This version has no external safety lever. It relies on three passive safeties, firing pin block, trigger safety and drawbar safety, and the trigger is the same as on the MS model. Shooters who prefer a lever should pick the MS.

Where the P-10 had a registered polymer frame, the DUTY 4.0 moves the serial number to an internal modular chassis. That is the headline. The rest follows the modern service-pistol formula done carefully: a striker SFDA trigger at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) (0.16 in (4 mm) reset, 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) travel), a 7.4 in (188 mm) long slide with direct-mount optics cuts, fixed sights and a 102 mm barrel without a thread.

Best fit: concealed carry where your state allows it, home defense, and range time that does not need a full-frame grip. Shooters coming from a CZ 75 will recognize the grip angle; buyers coming from any other striker gun will notice the trigger first.

Questions buyers ask: Do I still need a pistol purchase permit in North Carolina? No. The permit was repealed in March 2023, and there is no state waiting period. Your dealer runs the background check at pickup. How does the DUTY 4.0 trigger compare to older CZ striker guns? CZ calls it a refined SFDA trigger: 5.6 pounds plus or minus 0.9, 9 mm of travel and a 4 mm reset. Try both the C and F at your dealer if you can. Does the CZ DUTY 4.0 C take CZ P-10 magazines? CZ lists the DUTY with its own 15-round magazine and an extended base plate for 17+1. P-10 magazine fit is not confirmed, so plan on DUTY magazines.
