Remington's 870 Magnum in the Special Purpose configuration is a 12-gauge pump with a 26-inch vent rib barrel, a 3-inch chamber and a screw-in choke. The metal is Parkerized rather than blued, the furniture is checkered walnut and length of pull runs 14 inches to the factory recoil pad. Serial W683036M is modern production, shows faint patina on the receiver, and otherwise rates very good with an excellent bore.

The dull Parkerized finish and walnut furniture give it a working-gun look, and it is at home in the North Carolina deer woods, where shotguns are legal through the whole gun season in every zone. Swap the screw-in choke to match the load and the cover you hunt. Hunter orange is required during gun season and the limit is six deer, two of them antlered, so plan the season around your county listing.
