This is a U.S. Model 1818 sword made by Starr, offered used under SKU SW1356. The 32-inch blade has been cleaned to a bright polish, and the maker's markings remain clear and readable. The grip is bare wood, very dark in color, with nothing covering it. The scabbard is in very good condition, showing a dark patina with some pitting.

North Carolina collectors of early American edged weapons will weigh the cleaned blade against the clear markings; a polished blade is less original than one left alone, but the Starr marks are legible and the scabbard keeps its patina. The grip is bare, dark wood, so look at the photographs with that in mind and expect no leather or wire on it. It is a wall or cabinet piece, sold as a used antique sword with the condition points stated plainly.
