Menuki are the small paired ornaments set beneath the wrap of a Japanese sword handle, and this kinko set is worked in solid silver. One shows a vase of flowers; the other shows a figure wearing a jingasa, the flat hat. The set is signed. Filed under Japanese swords, fittings and firearms as SKU MGJ264, it is sold in used condition with no further grading from the supplier.

For a North Carolina collector of Japanese sword furniture this is a signed silver set with a readable subject, which makes it a candidate both for study and for mounting on a handle if the size suits. The two different scenes, vase and hatted figure, give each side of the grip its own picture. Measurements are not given, so compare the photographs against the handle you have in mind before you plan a mount, and read the signature from the images.
