Offered under SKU MGJ1049, this set of antique Japanese menuki is another group from a well-known collection, as the supplier notes. Menuki sit on either side of a sword handle beneath the cord wrap, filling the hand and decorating the grip. The supplier gives no further facts: no subject, no metal, no signature and no size, and the condition is simply listed as used.

What the North Carolina buyer gets here is a set with a named-collection history and the details left to the eye, so compare the photographs closely for subject matter, material and wear before deciding. Such pieces are collected loose in boxes as often as they are mounted, and the choice depends on whether the size suits a handle you own. Ask for extra images if the ones shown do not answer a question, and judge the surface as it appears.
