This listing is a set of antique Japanese menuki, the small ornaments fitted under the handle wrap of a sword, that comes out of a well-known collection according to the supplier. Beyond that provenance line, the supplier gives no subject, metal, signature or measurements, so the photographs carry the description. It is filed under Japanese swords, fittings and firearms as SKU MGJ886 in used condition.

North Carolina collectors who buy fittings by eye rather than by paperwork will want to look hard at the images: the motif, the metal color, the wear on the high points and the backs of the pieces all have to be read from the pictures. Antique menuki of this kind are kept as study pieces, displayed in a fitted box or mounted on a handle of the right size, and the collection history is the one documented fact here.
