The Remington Model 514 is a single-shot bolt-action rimfire that handles .22 Short, Long and Long Rifle. This example has no serial number and dates to around the 1950s. It carries a 24-inch round barrel with iron sights, blued metal, a walnut stock and the original butt plate. The bore is excellent. The stock shows handling marks and some finish loss near the heel, and the barrel has a few scuffs, which puts it in good condition overall.

A one-shot-at-a-time rimfire teaches careful aim, which is why rifles like this are often handed to a young shooter in North Carolina for a first season of plinking and practice. The 24-inch barrel gives a long sight radius with the iron sights, and plain walnut and blued steel are easy to wipe down after a humid day on the farm. It is a simple rifle with few parts.
