FFL Transfer Information

PRK Arms is a federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL) and provides FFL transfer services for firearms purchased online from other licensed dealers.

What Is an FFL Transfer?

Federal law requires that all firearms purchased online or from out-of-state dealers be shipped to and transferred through a licensed FFL dealer in the buyer’s state. The FFL dealer receives the firearm, verifies the buyer’s identity, processes the required ATF Form 4473, conducts the NICS background check, and then releases the firearm to the buyer.

Our Transfer Fee

We charge a standard FFL transfer fee of $25–$50 per firearm, depending on the firearm type. Contact us for current pricing before placing your order.

How the Process Works

  1. Purchase Online: Buy your firearm from any licensed online dealer (e.g., GunBroker, Bud’s Gun Shop, etc.).
  2. Contact Us First: Email or call us before completing your purchase to confirm we can accept the transfer and provide our FFL information.
  3. Provide Our FFL: Give the selling dealer our FFL license information so they can ship directly to us. We can email our FFL copy upon request.
  4. We Receive the Firearm: Once the firearm arrives, we will contact you to schedule your pick-up.
  5. Complete the Transfer: Come in to our location with a valid government-issued photo ID. You will complete ATF Form 4473 and undergo an NICS background check.
  6. Take Ownership: Once the background check is approved, you take possession of your firearm.

What to Bring

  • Valid, government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
  • A second form of ID is helpful but not always required
  • Payment for the transfer fee
  • Your order confirmation from the selling dealer

Background Check Information

All transfers require a NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) check via the FBI. The check typically takes just a few minutes, but can take up to 3 business days in some cases. A “delay” result means the FBI needs more time — this is common and does not mean denial.

Important Notes

  • We do not accept transfers from private sellers (non-FFL) — only from licensed dealers
  • All NFA items (suppressors, SBRs, machine guns) require additional ATF forms and a tax stamp — contact us before purchasing
  • Denied transfers are not refunded by the selling dealer — ensure you are legally eligible before purchasing
